Job summary

Valero is seeking a Manager Refinery Optimization for the Texas City refinery. You will lead the Refinery Scheduling and Planning team, including planners, schedulers and blenders, and back up planning activities as needed.

You will review the Refinery Operating Plan, contribute to strategic planning, and communicate plans with Corporate Planning & Economics and refinery operations. Requires 10 years of refinery experience and on-site work in Texas City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering is required.
• At least 10 years of refinery experience are required.
• Experience with AVEVA Spiral LP or other optimization software is required.
• Familiarity with refinery scheduling processes and methodology is required.
• Able to work on-site at the Valero Texas City Refinery.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve refinery optimization and profitability.
• Review the monthly Refinery Operating Plan (ROP) and communicate plans.
• Provide input into the refinery’s Strategic Plan development.
• Issue weekly operating instructions and establish unit targets.
• Coordinate with Corporate Planning & Economics and refinery operations.
• Perform and support daily scheduling across all process units.
• Manage refinery planning and economics staff and development.
• Collaborate with Corporate Regional Optimization Engineers to capture synergies.
• Provide guidance to Operations on plan variances and real-time decisions.
• Support capital projects through scoping, design, execution and startup.
