Job summary

Safety-Kleen is seeking a Refinery Operator to join our team in East Chicago, IN. The role focuses on refinery operations as a priority at the facility, with flexibility for all shifts. This is a union position starting at $25.47 per hour.

The ideal candidate will support health and safety initiatives, operate forklifts, sample and document process data, and assist with loading/offloading caustic. Relevant experience and TWIC card are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• TWIC card required.
• 1–3 years experience in a plant or industrial environment preferred.
• 1–3 years forklift experience preferred.
• Oil and gas experience is a plus.
• Must be mechanically inclined or familiar with general tools.
• Computer literate and able to operate an iPad.
• MS Office Suite – Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Must be able to work in the elements and at heights.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
• Sample from various process equipment and tanks, load/offload caustic from tankers.
• Prepare samples, submit for lab analysis, and enter data for tracking and accounting.
• Complete shipping and receiving documents accurately.
• Perform daily inspections as required by environmental permits and MARSEC requirements.
• Operate a forklift.
• Other duties as required.
