Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to provide technical and mechanical support for refinery projects located in Wilmington/Carson, CA. You will manage technical and construction projects, ensure compliance with MOC and process standards, and collaborate with Operations and outside contractors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years in refining/mfg, and strong knowledge of piping, fixed equipment, and ASME/API standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 4+ years post-degree experience as Mechanical/Project Engineer in refining, petrochemical or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement projects to improve safety, profitability and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with Management of Change (MOC) and Process.
• Coordinate project scope development with other departments and outside engineering contractors.
• Develop estimates and DSPs for projects and CWPs; support construction.
• Review equipment designs with Operations and other teams to identify issues.
• Comply with engineering codes and Marathon specifications (ASME, API, NBIC, etc.).
• Provide input for purchase/fabrication of equipment and review vendor drawings.
• Support maintenance with technical reviews per ASME PCC-2 and standards.
• Develop CWPs and provide technical support for day-to-day operations.
• Initiate and execute MOCs; participate in PHAs and HAZOPs.
• Promote safety and lead incident investigations.
