Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Carson, California is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer with gas/oil refinery experience to provide technical support, lead optimization, and participate in capital projects.

The role demands 5+ years in oil/gas refining, a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, and ability to work onsite on a 9/80 schedule with occasional after-hours support. Relocation may be available and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering discipline.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years as a Chemical/Process Engineer in the oil/gas refining industry.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
• Must have a clean and valid driver’s license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
• Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
• Must be able to work: the onsite 9/80's schedule with the ability to provide occasional after-hours support and support TAR approximately once a year.

Responsibilities

• Monitor unit performance and identify optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot unit upsets and incidents to maintain production plans.
• Support capital projects and unit improvements.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance to resolve operational challenges.
• Lead reviews and contribute to process safety and environmental compliance.
