The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS)supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profitorganizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management,real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and lawenforcement for State buildings. Main Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for shelving incoming files from State agencies that are being returned following a records request (refiles) or being added to already-transferred boxes at the State Records Center (interfiles). Additionally, this position supports the facility’s incoming records transfers and outgoing records disposals as required.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:• Insert incoming refiles and interfiles into the appropriate shelf locations.• Review and inventory all incoming refiles and interfiles submitted by State agencies.• With the support of the Records Inventory Manager, rehouse refiles and interfiles that do not fit in their original shelf locations.• Support the Records Transfer Specialists by assisting in the handling of record center boxes during transfer and disposal processes.• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.Notes:1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding all qualifications.• Two years of experience performing warehouse work.• Experience handling government records.• Experience with warehouse technology, including personnel lifts and pallet jacks.• Ability to work independently and multitask.• Ability to work well with other team members.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to lift 50lb. boxes.• Must be comfortable working at heights of 20 ft.

BENEFITS
Contractual employeeswho work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health andWelfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 ormore hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidizedhealth benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractualemployee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for yourmedical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you haveenrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the costfor these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidentaldeath and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsibleto pay the full premium for these benefits.��Leave may be grantedto a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. Thisleave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40hours per calendar year.
