Job summary

Albany Med Health System seeks a Referral Transcriptionist – Medical Record Coordinator to transcribe referrals from external providers with high accuracy. You will review medical history and implants, identify STAT referrals, and route to appropriate workqueues to enable timely scheduling of physician and imaging orders.

The role requires obtaining medical records for new visits and specialty referrals, ensuring patient histories are available. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Customer service experience with high accuracy of detailed information.
• Ability to manage high volume and quick turnaround of information.

Responsibilities

• In Epic, transcribe referrals into orders with high accuracy for routing to Scheduling WQ.
• Review referrals and medical history to ensure accurate diagnoses and safe care.
• Contact external provider offices and hospitals for medical records for new visits.
• Manage returned mail and update Epic with precise patient information.
• Reconcile incoming medical records to ensure completeness and upload to the patient encounter.
• Demonstrate teamwork and open communication to complete tasks timely.
