Job summary

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital in Portland, OR is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join a new referral team. The role blends patient intake, clinical nursing support, referral coordination, and medical records management to ensure continuity of care and a high-touch experience for clients and veterinary partners.

Qualifications

• Current CVT license in Oregon required.
• Interest in pursuing VTS encouraged but not required.
• Experience in emergency, specialty, referral, or critical care medicine preferred.
• Strong client communication and referral coordination focus.

Responsibilities

• Support inpatient and ICU patient care including med administration and vital monitoring.
• Assist with advanced procedures and therapies (e.g., chest tube, mechanical ventilation).
• Receive referred patients and support intake process.
• Obtain patient history and vital signs; assist with nursing support.
• Carry out doctor orders and prepare patients for further care.
• Serve as communication touch point for clients and referring veterinarians.
• Coordinate and collect medical records from outside clinics.
• Facilitate smooth handoffs between referring veterinarians and DoveLewis teams.
• Support referral documentation, scheduling, and follow-up communication.
• Help provide a seamless, elevated client and partner experience.
