Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Referral Specialist in Cardiology Services to coordinate patient referrals, verify insurance, and manage scheduling and authorization processes.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with at least one year of administrative experience in a medical setting; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years experience in a Medical Office or healthcare environment.
• Basic computer skills including Excel and Outlook; comfortable with Windows-based programs.

Responsibilities

• Resolves pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns before a patient’s appointment, interacting with patients, insurance carriers and internal departments.
• Completes the referral process for ancillary, consultation, radiology or lab visits; checks insurance coverage, sends approvals and confirmations, schedules appointments and notifies patients of progress.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Referral Specialist, you will serve as a critical liaison in our Cardiology Services department, ensuring that patients receive timely and coordinated care. You will act as the primary point of contact for patients and referring providers, playing a key role in managing complex scheduling, verifying essential insurance information, and facilitating the authorization process.

Every day you will manage a high volume of incoming calls and patient registrations, meticulously verifying demographics and insurance coverage to ensure billing accuracy.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of administrative experience in a medical setting strongly preferred.
