Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Referral Specialist in Cardiology Services to act as a primary liaison for patients and referring providers, coordinating scheduling, verifying insurance information, and guiding the authorization process to ensure timely, coordinated care.

Daily duties include managing a high volume of calls and patient registrations, confirming demographics and coverage for accurate billing, and handling pre-certification and referral

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; minimum two years experience in Medical Office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Excel, Outlook, and Windows-based programs.
  • Bi-lingual abilities preferred.

  • Resolves pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient’s appointment, interacting with patients, insurance carriers and internal departments.
  • Completes the referral process for a patient’s ancillary, consultation, radiology or lab visit; checks insurance coverage, sends approvals, schedules appointments and notifies patients of progress.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Referral Specialist, you will serve as a critical liaison in our Cardiology Services department, ensuring that patients receive timely and coordinated care. You will act as the primary point of contact for patients and referring providers, playing a key role in managing complex scheduling, verifying essential insurance information, and facilitating the authorization process.

Every day you will manage a high volume of incoming calls and patient registrations, meticulously verifying demographics and insurance coverage to ensure billing accuracy.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of administrative experience in a medical setting strongly preferred.

  • Resolves, pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patients appointment. This includes interacting with patients, insurance carriers and various internal departments
