Position Title: Referral & Resource Specialist - Part-Time

Job Description:

Referral & Resource Specialist - Part-Time (20 hours/week)

Location: This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, with the exception of required in-person training sessions, providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. This approach promotes productivity, supports work-life integration, and ensures essential face-to-face onboarding and skill development. Candidates must reside in one of the following states to be considered: MASSACHUSETTS, NEW HAMPSHIRE, CONNECTICUT, RHODE ISLAND OR NEW YORK.

We are seeking candidates to work on the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line with knowledge of behavioral health social services and insurance systems, and a deep understanding of factors affecting a person’s experiences in the mental health system, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, language proficiency, religion, disability status, socioeconomic status, criminogenic risk, and trauma history.

The Referral and Resource Specialist will be responsible for screening, assessing, training, and providing telephonic intervention/de-escalation for helpline callers using established protocols to determine an immediate course of action. This is a nationwide network.

We operate 24/7, 365 days a year. Training is scheduled Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm EST.

How you will make an impact:

  • Handle inbound calls, texts, and chats from individuals in crisis on the MA Behavioral Health Helpline.
  • Perform safety screenings and assessments to evaluate risk levels.
  • Use information from callers and assessments to understand needs and develop an action plan collaboratively.
  • Document interactions accurately and timely according to established criteria.
  • Provide follow-up linkage to ensure individuals access necessary services.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and organizations to optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of experience in behavioral health or 6 months of direct crisis experience involving screenings and assessments, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • BS/BA in a mental health or human services field and two years of direct experience preferred.
  • Call center experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting suicide or crisis lines preferred.

Salary range for candidates working in New York is $24.27/hr to $41.60/hr. Elevance Health offers comprehensive benefits, incentive programs, stock purchase, 401k, and more. Salary offers depend on various factors including location, experience, and education.
