Job description

SpineZone is seeking a Referral Coordinator/Surgery Scheduler to join our team. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, scheduling procedures, assisting with medical clearance, and managing patient appointments and communications within a supportive, fun culture focused on solving musculoskeletal pain.

Essential job functions include:

  1. Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining precertification for referrals
  2. Submitting orders for imaging and obtaining insurance approval
  3. Scheduling procedures with hospitals and surgery centers using various software
  4. Assisting in obtaining medical clearance
  5. Scheduling preoperative and postoperative appointments
  6. Handling busy phones, preparing surgical packets, and scanning into EHR
  7. Managing pharmacy callbacks
  8. Demonstrating clinical knowledge within scope of practice
  9. Monitoring patient flow and physician schedules to ensure quality and efficiency
  10. Responding to changing circumstances and prioritizing patient needs
  11. Maintaining supply levels and managing copay/insurance collections
  12. Documenting patient care events thoroughly and accurately
  13. Partnering with physicians to expand clinical knowledge
  14. Managing daily responsibilities and ensuring readiness of reports and information
  15. Managing telephone messages promptly and efficiently
  16. Supporting insurance, utilization review, and front desk responsibilities
  17. Performing other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

Required Experience: Healthcare setting experience preferred.

Required Education: High School Diploma, Medical Assistant program certification, CPR certification.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of spine, multitasking, teamwork, organization, problem-solving, strong communication, attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive, typing proficiency (30 WPM, 0-2 errors).

Compensation Range: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, DOE.
