A non-exempt medical office position responsible for managing all patient referrals for the medical offices in the market.

• Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Follows the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and maintains confidentiality according to Privacy Standards.
• Supports the Corporate Compliance Program by understanding and adhering to the Code of Conduct, federal and state laws, regulations, and policies; reports compliance issues promptly.
• Processes patient referrals for practices in the market.
• Facilitates orders and communications with outside facilities.
• Coordinates scheduling of office visits for referred patients.
• Assists patients in finding resources that accept various insurances.
• Obtains pre-authorizations from payers as needed.
• Contacts insurance companies to get medications approved, especially if previously denied.
• Checks the status of patient referrals daily and updates patient charts accordingly.
• Sets up referring providers, payers, and chart mergers in the electronic system.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Experience: At least one year of direct patient experience in a healthcare or insurance-related environment.
