Job summary

QuarterLine, a Planned Systems International company, is seeking a Referral Management Center Specialist to support the healthcare team at a Military Treatment Facility. You will handle referral and appointment coordination, answer patient and staff questions, and educate patients on procedures and timelines.

Candidates should be a US citizen with a high school diploma, working knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in medical administration.

Qualifications

• US Citizen required.

• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• 1 year of administrative experience in medical setting preferred (referral management, medical scheduling, patient administration, or insurance verification).
• Proficiency with computers and keyboarding to sustain EHR workflow.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Ability to obtain favorable background check and MTF badge access.
• Current Basic Life Support certification where required, plus HIPAA training.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will provide professional customer service while assisting patients and staff with referral and appointment coordination.

Essential Functions And Job Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and assist patients and staff with referral-related questions.
• Review and process referrals for completeness and eligibility.
• Schedule and reschedule specialty appointments according to MTF guidelines.
• Process routine, urgent, and emergent referrals within established timeframes .
• Coordinate referrals with outside providers or insurance when services are not available at the MTF.
• Maintain accurate referral documentation in MHS GENESIS and other required systems.
• Educate patients on referral procedures, appointments, and expected timelines.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements

• US Citizen.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• One (1) year of administrative experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting. Referral management, medical scheduling, patient administration, or insurance verification preferred.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency and keyboarding sufficient to sustain electronic health record workflow.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation, a Common Access Card, and MTF-specific badge and system access.
• Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA or Red Cross) where required by the supported MTF, plus HIPAA, Privacy Act, information assurance, and MTF-directed initial and annual training.
