Job summary

Equitas Health is seeking a Referral Specialist to support clinical staff by managing the administrative side of referrals and authorizations. You will communicate with medical providers, clinic staff, and insurers, ensuring accurate documentation in the referral workflow.

Responsibilities include scheduling referrals, obtaining authorizations, answering inquiries, and maintaining up-to-date records in the EPIC system.

Qualifications

Three years of customer service and clerical experience in a medical facility.
Knowledge of clinical/medical office procedures and Medical Terminology.
Experience with EMR; Epic experience preferred.
Insurance verifier and/or pre-authorization experience.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ community; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Screen and schedule incoming referrals.
Obtain prior authorization for diagnostic services.
Answer questions from patients, clerical staff, providers and insurance companies.
Document calls and referrals in the system with accurate status updates.
Notify clients of appointments and reschedule as needed.
Maintain referrals in EPIC and Referral Management System.
