A healthcare staffing agency is seeking a Referral and Authorization specialist to manage patient referrals and authorizations for specialty services. Candidates should have 2+ years of healthcare experience and strong medical terminology knowledge. This fully remote role offers a pay rate of $20.00/hr and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and retirement plans.

Job description

The Referral and Authorization specialist is responsible for ensuring patients have been cleared for specialty service office visits; obtaining and issuing referrals for ancillary, consult, radiology or lab visits; receiving approvals for medication formularies, durable medical equipment, home health care and other items or services needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years healthcare experience, specialty referral experience, and outside of pharmacy referrals, MA if possible or healthcare benefits experience.
  • Call center experience is a plus!
  • Patient Registration, Scheduler, Prior Authorization
  • Medical Office or Healthcare environment
  • Medical terminology, Insurance verification, insurance benefit knowledge, referral processing and authorization experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Excellent listening skills required.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills to support the management of multiple priorities with significant attention to detail for project completion.
  • Must maintain member confidentiality at all times.
  • This role focuses on Complex Specialty Medical Services. Medical terminology knowledge is a must!

Pay and Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
