Job summary

The University of Nebraska College of Law invites applications for an open rank professor reference librarian. This 12-month, tenure-track law library faculty position offers an opportunity to support student learning and faculty scholarship while contributing to the mission and values of the College of Law.

The successful candidate will provide reference and research assistance, teach information literacy, and engage in scholarly activities. Lincoln, NE-based, full-time tenure-track appointment.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Or a J.D. with current enrollment in an MLS degree program with completion within 18 months of hire; or a joint degree program.
  • Or a Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program with substantial law library experience.

Position Summary

The University of Nebraska College of Law invites applications for an open rank professor reference librarian. This 12-month, tenure-track law library faculty position offers an opportunity to support student learning and faculty scholarship while contributing to the mission and values of the College of Law.

Responsibilities
  • Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Teach library instruction and information literacy skills.
  • Participate in faculty governance and college committees.
  • Develop and maintain the law library collection and services.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, such as publishing and presenting.
  • Plan and participate in faculty development, including sabbaticals and fellowships.
Qualifications
  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited master’s program.
  • OR a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and current enrollment in a Master’s degree program in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, or an equivalent graduate degree, with completion required within 18 months of hire; or current enrollment in a joint degree program, with completion of both the J.D. and the Master’s degree within six months of hire.
  • OR a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program and substantial professional experience as a law librarian demonstrating qualifications comparable to the above.
