Job summary

Rosemont College is seeking a Part-time Reference Librarian for 16 hours per week in Bryn Mawr, PA. The role supports reference services, information literacy, and the development of research guides for incoming students.

The position involves daily desk coverage, teaching responsibilities for an interdisciplinary research course, collection development, and training faculty and students in library technologies within a collaborative Library Services team.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science is required.
  • Knowledge of traditional and electronic resources for research.
  • Teaching ability and commitment to the library's instructional role.
  • Knowledge of collection development policies and areas of interest for a Liberal Arts College.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with PC troubleshooting, maintenance and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, especially as they relate to library services.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to provide service in a team-oriented setting.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

The Part-time Reference Librarian supports the mission of the college by assisting in reference services and information literacy programs. .


SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*


  • Participate in daily reference desk rotation; provide Information Literacy/user instruction to individuals and groups; build Research Guides; serve as a Personal Librarian to incoming students.

  • Teaching ability and an understanding of and commitment to the library's instructional role.

  • Knowledge of collection development policies and areas of interest for a Liberal Arts College.

  • Familiarity with learning management systems, especially as they relate to library services.

  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of maintaining web pages, social media, tutorials, and LibGuides.

  • A commitment to provide service in a team-oriented setting.
