The Water Authority of Fiji is a corporate body established under the Water Authority of Fiji Act 2007 to make provision for the effective management and administration of the Water and wastewater systems. We are responsible for providing access to quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 159,000 and 33,540 residential and non-residential metered customers in the urban areas of Fiji, and for setting up water supply systems in rural areas.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure the wastewater collection system is fully operational at all times.
- Adhere to WAF Operational Standards, Environment Management Act, and other governing standards and legislation.
- Understand and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and quality standards.
- Assist the Technical Officer in managing pump stations, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems.
- Manage wastewater collection system maintenance, including cleaning, video inspections, leak repairs, and facilitating external works.
- Coordinate operations of CCTV units, jetters, and vacuum trucks.
- Perform planned preventive maintenance and general maintenance works efficiently and timely.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Update and maintain GIS data for pipelines and systems.
- Ensure all work schedules and shift duties are delivered successfully.
- Comply with WAF's OHS and PPE requirements.
- Prepare and deliver timely, relevant reports and maintain records.
- Promote teamwork, cooperation, and organizational values.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Trade Test Certificate (Class II or III) in Pipe Fitter / Plumber or equivalent in Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Plant Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering.
- Certificate III or IV in Fabrication and Welding with specialized certification.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably with experience in installing and maintaining pumps, generators, and wastewater equipment.
