Job summary

Reeves Construction Company, a Colas USA subsidiary, is hiring a concrete finisher to join our heavy civil team serving road, bridge and site projects. Based in Blacksburg, SC, you will place concrete, finish to grade, perform patching, and assist with carpentry as needed.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years in concrete on bridge/highway projects. Strong safety mindset, ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and ability to read safety rules and reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2+ years in the concrete phase of bridge/highway construction.

Responsibilities

• Place concrete to final line and grade with the appropriate finish.
• Patch concrete after forms are removed, safely above ground with falsework/ladders/scissor lifts.
• Perform carpentry work as needed between placing and finishing tasks.
• Work safely and in accordance with company policies.
• Able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds and handle materials/equipment up to this limit.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Primary Mission

A craftsman with extensive skill and experience in the area of concrete. The finisher will generally have a specific tool inventory and may need direction to perform more advanced tasks.

Main Responsibilities

• Places concrete to final line and grade with the appropriate finish.
• Able to point and patch concrete after forms are removed, involving working above ground safely, while on falsework, ladders, and/or scissor lifts.
• Able to perform carpentry work as needed between placing and finishing task.
• Able to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company’s policies.
• Must be able to work off the ground and handle materials and equipment up to 80 lbs.
• Any other task assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
