Job summary

Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System is seeking corrections professionals to foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. This position requires a strong foundation in behavioral and social sciences, experience in casework and counseling, and graduate education in corrections or related fields.

Qualifications

Requires 24 semester hours in behavioral or social sciences.
Combination of education and experience equivalent to 4-year degree as described above.
Education and experience evaluation may include sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, and related courses.
Experience must be in casework, counseling with diagnostic/treatment planning, or social rehabilitation work.
Graduate education in corrections or related fields is required for advancement.

Responsibilities

Assist in case management services within correctional settings.
Assist in collecting, verifying, and analyzing information for social histories.
Assist in writing correspondence and responses to Attorneys, Judges, Parole Offices, and others.
Assist in determining inmate needs and monitoring program goals.
Combine education and experience to perform major duties described above.
