Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Security Engineer (Red Team) to join the Information Security department. You will identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities while building internal security tools and supporting purple and red team exercises.

The role requires hands-on triage of bug reports, threat hunting, and delivering actionable guidance to engineering teams. Onsite work is required; space for growth and impact across SpaceX security programs is substantial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or STEM; or 2+ years of professional security software development experience.
• Experience with Python, Go, C#, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for operating systems, distributed systems, or enterprise infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, processes, and guidance that simplify security adoption without delaying delivery.
• Conduct software code reviews to identify insecure patterns and remediation.
• Perform web application security testing using established frameworks and tools.
• Triage and validate Bugcrowd reports, coordinate with researchers, and work with internal teams on remediation and disclosure.
• Perform Purple Team exercises to test controls and improve detection.
• Contribute to Red Team operations, including scoping and post-exercise analysis.
• Build and operate vulnerability notification/alerting processes for timely guidance.
• Continue threat assessment by integrating threat intel and vulnerabilities into scanning and prioritization.
• Collaborate with detection/response, compliance, application security, and infrastructure teams to avoid duplication.
• Escalate critical issues with practical mitigation options.
• Document findings and provide risk summaries to leadership.
