Job summary

VSO Inc. is seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (CNV) Senior Consultant to design, deploy and support an on‑premises OpenShift Virtualization environment for a bare‑metal deployment.

The role requires onsite work with the customer, strong communication, and deep expertise in OpenShift core infrastructure, virtualization, networking and storage. The successful candidate will manage VM and container workloads, perform migrations from legacy hypervisors, set up authentication and RBAC, and

Qualifications

• OpenShift CNV/Virtualization experience required.
• Experience with on-prem OpenShift deployment and core infrastructure.
• Ability to manage VM and container workloads and migrations from legacy hypervisors.
• Strong networking and storage integration experience.
• Certification: Red Hat Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization is preferred, if held.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support an on‑premises OpenShift Virtualization environment.
• Configure core infrastructure and provision bare‑metal hosts.
• Manage VM and container workloads, including migrating VMs from legacy hypervisors.

Opportunity

Virtual Service Operations is searching for a Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (CNV) Senior Consultant with expertise in OpenShift Virtualization to support a bare-metal, on-premises OpenShift Virtualization deployment. This is a hands‑on, technically demanding engagement requiring strong command of OpenShift core infrastructure, virtualization, networking, and storage in an on‑prem context.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support an on‑premises OpenShift Virtualization environment
• Configure core infrastructure and provision bare‑metal hosts
• Manage VM and container workloads, including migrating VMs from legacy hypervisors
• Build and maintain networking architecture and storage integration
• Set up authentication and RBAC
• Provide ongoing lifecycle and operational support, and work directly with customer stakeholders onsite

Required Skills And Experience

• Core Infrastructure: OpenShift core infrastructure (DNS, NTP, networking, storage); bare‑metal installation, including Redfish and Virtual Media; Hybrid Cloud Console, Agent‑based Installer and Assisted Installer
• Virtualization: OpenShift Virtualization (CNV/KubeVirt), including Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV); VM and container workload lifecycle management
• Networking: Deep understanding of OpenShift networking, including required port configurations; OpenShift Virt networking (OVS bridges, Linux bridges, VLAN management); storage networking, including iSCSI
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization Certification

Platform Operations

• GitOps and Helm
• Authentication and RBAC, including Okta integration and OpenShift RBAC
• OpenShift Operator management
• Observability: logging, metrics and alerting
• OpenShift lifecycle management, including updates and upgrades

Requirements

• 7 - 9 years of professional experience
• Active Secret Clearance
• Hybrid in Charleston, SC - travel will be week over week onsite for the first couple months and than move to a week on week off schedule
• Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status
