Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. seeks a senior System Engineer with Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance to troubleshoot Linux and OpenStack environments, manage hypervisors, and automate daily tasks. The role includes OpenStack multi-region deployments, IaC with Ansible and Puppet, and health monitoring using Grafana/Naemon.

Responsibilities

• Daily troubleshooting of Linux, Windows, Red Hat OS versions
• Provide Ubuntu support
• Oversee cross-platform VM lifecycles in Linux environments
• Maintain and manage multiple OpenStack regions
• Troubleshoot OpenStack platforms
• Write IaC using Ansible and Puppet
• Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate tasks
• Manage YUM repositories (GOTS)
• Use Naemon and Grafana for health monitoring and performance analysis

Job Description

• Daily troubleshooting of Linux, Windows, Red Hat 6, 7, 8, and 9 Operating Systems
• Providing Ubuntu support
• Oversee cross-platform virtual machine lifecycles across Linux hypervisor environments (possibly Windows), optimizing resource allocation and compute capacity.
• Maintain and manage various versions of OpenStack across multi-region deployments
• Troubleshoot issues across Agency GOTS OpenStack platforms
• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible and Puppet
• May include developing end-to-end Python and Bash scripts to automate daily operational tasks, reduce manual toil, and streamline system provisioning workflows
• Manage YUM repos (GOTS repository management)
• Utilize Naemon and Grafana diagnostic tooling to execute systemic performance analysis and proactively address health degraded states.

Required Experience

• OpenStack experience
• Linux experience to include: Red Hat 6, 7, 8, and 9
• Experience with Grafana and Naemon
• Virtual Machine – Hypervisor
• Ansible and Puppet

Preferred Qualifications

• MachineShop experience
• Hypervisor virtual machine experience
• Python development language
• Understanding of Return-to-Service (RTS) protocols
• Familiarity with Pagent and Putty
• Python development language
• Bash scripting
