General Information:

The Recycling Technician will perform manual work necessary to support the sustainability initiative through recycling and other waste programs.

What are we looking for?

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time efficiently
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Strong English communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

This position is responsible for:

  • Performing activities associated with the collection, replacement, disposal/destruction and shipment of hazardous, non-hazardous and recyclable materials in accordance with federal, state, local regulations and company standard operating procedures.
  • Operating compactors, balers, forklifts, drum haulers and pallet jacks to transport hazardous, non-hazardous and recyclable materials to proper disposal areas.
  • Inspecting and sorting materials into designated containers according to type, size, condition, color, or paper/cardboard grade.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the conditions of all hazardous, non-hazardous and recycling storage areas and all related equipment.
  • Participating in training and maintaining knowledge with regard to current recycling methods, stream identification, waste mitigation, DOT regulations, and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reporting any procedural and/or process gaps to the Environmental Technician.
  • Following, promoting and enforcing KDC’s safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
  • Performing all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system, FDA Good Manufacturing Practices, OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations, including maintaining clean and orderly areas at all times.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Following all safety and environmental procedures to ensure all cleaning chemicals are controlled and compliant to promote safe work conditions for all employees, contractors and visitors.
