Job summary

GFL Industries seeks a responsible sorter for recyclable materials and excellent customer service for internal and external customers. The role emphasizes a safe work environment per the safety program and adherence to Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

Two shifts are offered: 1st shift at $18/hour (Tue-Fri 6am-4:30pm, Sat 6am-2:30pm) and 2nd shift at $19/hour (Mon 4pm-2:30am, Tue-Fri 4pm-12:30am). Benefits include PTO, medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with matching, and more.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
• Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; frequently lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a safe work environment by following the company's written safety program.
• Always follow Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.
• Sort various material types as directed by line-leads, depending on line position.
• Maintain proper hand speeds for picking and sorting various materials.
• Keep workspace clear from trip and fall hazards.
• Assist, as directed, with daily housekeeping and warehouse cleaning.
• Willing to move to another part of the sortation system as directed by supervisor.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers on material changes.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by supervisor or managers.

1st Shift

Pay: $18/hour

Shift: Tuesday - Friday (6am - 4:30pm), Saturday (6am - 2:30pm)

2nd Shift

Pay: $19/hour

Shift: Monday (4pm - 2:30am), Tuesday - Friday (4pm - 12:30am)

Physical/Mental Demands

• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
• Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally move/lift up to 50 pounds manually.
• Frequently move/lift up to 25 pounds manually.

Working Conditions

• Work in indoor office environment 50% of the time.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
• Occasionally exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles.
• Occasionally work in high precarious places.
• Work in motor vehicle traffic conditions occasionally.
