Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a reliable Recycling Sorter to join Team Green in Orlando, FL. You will manually separate recyclable materials on a sortation line while maintaining a safe, clean work environment and following the company safety program.

This is a full-time, year-round role with a $15/hour pay rate and 45–50 hour weeks. Candidates must pass a background check and drug test and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job description

Position responsable for the separation of recyclable materials while providing excellent customer service to the Company’s internal and external customers. Maintaining a safe work environment by following the guidelines set forth in the company’s written safety program.

Schedule & Hours:

• Hours: 45-50 hours per week
• Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Status: Permanent, long-term year-round employment (non-seasonal)

Position Overview

We are looking for a reliable, hard-working Recycling Sorter to join Team Green. In this role, you will be responsible for manually separating recyclable materials on a sortation line while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

Note: This is a safety sensitive role and must be able to pass background and drug test.

Key Responsibilities

• Sorting Operations: Manually sort recyclable materials (paper, plastics, metals, cardboard) as directed by line leads based on designated sorting positions.
• Speed & Accuracy: Maintain proper hand speeds to efficiently pick and separate high volumes of recyclable materials.
• Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to company written safety guidelines and complete all required Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Housekeeping: Keep personal workspace clear of trip and fall hazards; assist with daily warehouse cleaning and maintenance.
• Teamwork: Move to different areas of the sortation system as directed by supervisors and communicate effectively with co-workers and management.

Physical & Working Conditions:

• Physical Demands: Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing throughout the shift. Ability to frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Work Environment: Exposure to varying noise levels, temperature changes (hot/cold), moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and dust. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
