Sims Metal is seeking a Scale Operator to operate truck and non-ferrous scales at our recycling facility. You will verify material descriptions, weights, grades and documentation for inbound and outbound loads, and process cash transactions while delivering courteous customer service.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and comfort working both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck scales and non-ferrous scales safely and efficiently.
• Inspect, classify, and purchase recyclable materials with accurate weights and grades.
• Enter transactions into the inventory management system and verify scale tickets for accuracy.
• Process cash, credit card and other payments; maintain accurate cash records and balances.
• Issue receipts and maintain documentation for all transactions.
• Prepare daily transaction reports and related records.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to customers, drivers, vendors, and visitors.
