Job summary

Melwood in Patuxent River, MD, is seeking a Recycling Driver/Material Handler to join our Contract Services team. The role involves daily collection and processing of recyclables, loading/unloading materials, and operating vehicle equipment within a secure base environment.

Core hours are 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a DOT physical and background check are required. Starting pay is $23.57 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• DOT physical required.
• Experience in recycling field preferred.
• Ability to pass background check and security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and process recyclables.
• Load/unload trucks or equipment manually or with assistance.
• Ensure safe operation of vehicles and equipment at all times.
• Follow base rules and regulations for vehicle operation and material transport.
• Drive assigned route to locations, collect and unload materials as required.
• Maintain accurate collection records per contract requirements.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of truck fluids, batteries, tires, and safety gear.
• Report any accidents or damage promptly.
• Adhere to safety precautions for handling materials and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
