Job summary

The Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority is seeking a full-time Recycling Helper to support garbage and bulk-item collection and recycling activities across multiple sites on a fixed schedule.

The role involves loading and transporting trash, recyclables, and bulk items to transfer stations, driving a collection truck, and assisting grounds maintenance. A valid NYS driver’s license and residency in Schenectady or a nearby county are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid NYS Driver's license with a safe driving record at appointment and maintain it during tenure.
• Residency in Schenectady or a contiguous county is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect trash, recyclables and bulk items at each site on an assigned schedule.
• Dispose of, transport and transfer trash and bulk items to a transfer station.
• Load garbage and bulk items such as furniture, equipment and appliances for removal.
• Drive a truck to various locations for garbage collection and disposal.
• Assist with grounds upkeep and site clean-up.
