Job summary

Nexus Disposal in Houston, TX is seeking a motivated laborer to assist in sorting non-hazardous debris in an open-air recycling area. Under close supervision you will inspect materials and sort items by type, size or condition, contributing to efficient recycling operations.

The role requires physical labor outdoors, lifting up to 30 pounds, and adherence to safety rules. You will help with loading/unloading, maintain yard cleanliness, and attend weekly safety meetings.

Qualifications

• Education not required.
• 3 months of relevant work experience is a plus.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Sorts a variety of recycled materials into containers by type, size, or condition.
• Inspect materials and sort items such as concrete, plastics, and wood.
• Sorts metals to separate high-grade metals like copper, brass, and aluminum.
• Assist with loading baler machine and unloading/loading recycling materials.

Pay Rate: $14.00-16.00Job Schedule: Monday – SaturdayJob Shift: 40 hours/weekJob SummaryUnder close supervision performs manual labor sorting non-hazardous debris in an open-air recycling area.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.• Ability to inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in container according to type, size or condition.• Sorts a variety of recycled materials, such as concrete, plastics, and wood into containers or bucket loaders• Sorts metals to separate out high-grade metals, such as copper, brass, and aluminum for recycling• Sorts OCC (cardboard) into containers and assists with loading baler machine to prepare for shipping bales• Keeps recycle yard clean by sweeping, raking, picking up broken glass and loose paper debris, and maneuvering barrels and bins into proper locations• Directs drivers to proper loading/unloading areas; assists with unloading and loading recycling materials• Must attend weekly safety meetings• Other duties as assignedWork EnvironmentListed below are key points regarding environmental demands and work environment of the job.
