Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's Department of Surgery is seeking a recurrent transplant surgeon to support a new regional program serving West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, primarily for kidney transplants. The role emphasizes building a regional center of excellence in collaboration with the transplant nephrology team.

Ideal candidates will be board-certified or eligible in Surgery with an American Society of Transplant Surgeons fellowship and a track record in transplant care

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Completion of USMLE Step 3 mandatory.
  • Board certified or eligible in Surgery.
  • Completion of American Society of Transplant Surgeons fellowship in transplantation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, perform operations and manage care for kidney transplant donors and recipients.
  • Collaborate with nephrology, nursing, social work and other teams.

Position Description

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Surgery is seeking a recurrent transplant surgeon to help provide coverage in our new program, serving a large region of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico that has previously not had access to transplantation. Initially aimed at kidney transplants, this program will fill a huge unmet need in this region, provide an opportunity to build a regional center of excellence, and develop an enduring legacy in collaboration with the transplant nephrology team.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Evaluates, perform operations and manages care of patients donating and receiving kidney transplants;
  • Participates in multidisciplinary collaboration with nephrology team, nursing, social workers, etc.
Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO or equivalent
  • Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
  • Board certified or eligible in Surgery.
  • Completion of an American Society of Transplant Surgeons accredited Fellowship in transplantation.
