Responsibilities

Are you passionate about transforming how patients connect with clinical research? The Recruitment & Retention Solution Strategist plays a critical role in shaping innovative, data-driven strategies that drive enrollment success and enhance patient engagement across all phases of clinical trials.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with Business Development, Proposals, and internal operational teams to design tailored recruitment and retention solutions that align with study protocols, client objectives, and geographic and patient population considerations. You’ll act as a subject matter expert during the pre-award phase—ensuring proposed solutions are both feasible and optimized for timely enrollment while minimizing site and patient burden.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop customized, data-driven patient recruitment and retention strategies aligned with study goals and client expectations.
  • Assess study-specific factors such as target patient populations, protocol complexity, site feasibility, and geographic reach to inform strategy development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business development to craft competitive, differentiated RFP responses.
  • Initiate Patient Recruitment Plans (PRPs), documenting potential recruitment and retention risks and corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional experts—including feasibility, operational, and data science teams—to integrate real-world data and predictive analytics into recruitment planning.
  • Engage with clients during pre-award discussions and bid defense meetings to present and defend recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Stay current on global regulatory requirements, cultural considerations, and evolving best practices in patient engagement.
  • Represent the Recruitment & Retention (R&R) function in strategic sponsor discussions, ensuring solutions align with client goals and industry standards.
  • Track proposal outcomes, analyze performance data, and apply insights to continuously refine future strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, case studies, and lessons learned to advance the R&R solutioning process.
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree preferred and at least 5 years of experience in patient recruitment and retention strategy development, clinical trial feasibility, or related areas.
  • Direct experience designing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies for clinical trials across multiple phases.
  • Proven collaboration with operational, medical, business development, site feasibility, and vendor stakeholders.
  • Experience managing or overseeing site-level recruitment activities, including patient scheduling, data collection, and site initiation.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial protocols and factors influencing recruitment and retention feasibility.
  • Experience presenting and defending strategies to sponsors or clients in bid planning or defense settings.
  • Background in complex therapeutic areas (e.g., rare diseases, pediatrics, geriatrics, or terminal illness studies).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in evaluating recruitment and retention data to optimize future strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Professional organization membership or affiliation related to clinical research preferred.
Core Competencies
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and presentation abilities with the capacity to lead matrix teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to balance financial, operational, and client-driven priorities with integrity and a service mindset.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on experience executing recruitment and retention initiatives in dynamic environments.

If you thrive in a collaborative, data-informed environment and are motivated by improving patient access to clinical research, we’d love to hear from you!
