Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking a Human Resources Assistant (Recruiting Assistant) to manage posting, maintenance, and closure of vacancies across full-cycle hiring using NEOGOV and other platforms. Responsibilities include coordinating with recruiters and managers, ensuring accuracy of job postings, and assisting in job fairs and events.

A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

As the Human Resources Assistant (Recruiting Assistant), you will serve as a Recruiting Assistant for the agency. Responsible for the accurate and timely posting and administration of employment opportunities. Serve as a key operational resource within Recruiting and Talent and ensure approved vacancies are effectively prepared, posted, maintained, updated, and closed across the full-cycle hiring process, to include applicant tracking system (NEOGOV), career websites, and other recruitment platforms.

Responsibilities for the Human Resources Assistant (Recruiting Assistant)
  • Create and publish job announcements in the applicant tracking system (NEOGOV) and other career websites. Coordinate with recruiters and hiring managers to obtain missing or corrected information before positions are posted. Monitor job postings to ensure vacancies remain active and appropriately advertised throughout the recruitment period.
  • Receive and review approved requisitions and position information prior to posting and coordinates required pre-employment activities, including coordinating document completion and testing. Ensure job postings accurately reflect approved job titles, duties, minimum qualifications, salary information, work locations, application requirements, closing dates, and other position information. Review postings for accuracy, completeness, grammar, formatting, and compliance with agency requirements.
  • Develop and maintain posting templates and standardized recruitment language.
  • Troubleshoot posting issues and coordinates with applicant tracking system or technology support personnel as necessary. Ensure recruitment postings comply with applicable federal and state laws, agency policies, and public-sector recruitment requirements.
  • Participate and assist in the coordination and execution of job fairs and hiring events.
Additional Requirements

Must be able to lift 20-30 lbs as needed.

  • A high school diploma and administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant HR experience.
  • Experience working in a high-volume recruiting or human resources environment.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and online recruitment platforms.
  • Experience creating and maintaining job postings.
  • Experience conducting job fairs and hiring events.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Have knowledge of or the ability to learn the relevant human resources policies and procedures and of agency policies and procedures.
  • Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Be able to analyze needs and to recommend and communicate solutions effectively.
