American AI Logistics is seeking a mid-level Recruiter to own full-cycle recruiting for software engineering and defense program roles. The role supports GovCon hiring, sourcing across distinct candidate markets, and builds pipelines using LinkedIn Recruiter and Boolean search.

With a fully remote setup and a preference for candidates near Charlotte, NC, you will report to the Senior Recruiter & HR Coordinator.

American AI Logistics (AAIL) is hiring a mid-level Recruiter to join a lean, fast-moving talent function at a defense technology company scaling out of its Series A. This person will report directly to our Senior Recruiter & HR Coordinator, and will own the full-cycle recruiting across AAIL's two hiring tracks: software engineering and defense program roles.

This is a pure recruiting role. The ideal candidate has government contracting (GovCon) recruiting experience, is quick on sourcing across very different candidate markets (technical engineering talent and defense-industry veterans, and program managers), and wants ownership at a company still writing its own playbook.

This role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based in or near Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle recruiting for assigned requisitions: sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer process, and candidate experience, across both technical and defense roles
• Build and manage sourcing pipelines using LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, and other sourcing tools, adapting search strategy to the very different candidate markets AAIL hires from (software engineers vs. defense-industry program managers, military professionals, and veterans)
• Partner with hiring managers to translate role requirements into sourcing strategy, job descriptions, and interview scorecards
• Conduct initial candidate screens to assess fit against role requirements, flagging strong candidates and clear passes efficiently
• Maintain organized, up-to-date candidate pipeline data and reporting so hiring status is always visible
• Draft and refine outreach copy (InMails, connection requests, email sequences) tailored to different candidate personas
• Support employer branding and candidate experience: timely communication, clear process, and a strong first impression of AAIL
• Help build out recruiting process and infrastructure as the team grows, including documentation, templates, and repeatable playbooks

A Typical Week Might Include

• Sourcing a new batch of candidates for open reqs, building out a Boolean string and running it across LinkedIn Recruiter
• Screening calls with candidates across open technical and defense reqs
• A pipeline review with manager on active reqs: where candidates are, what's stalling, what needs a new sourcing angle
• Drafting and sending a round of InMails to a newly identified target list
• Coordinating interview loops with hiring managers and following up on debrief notes
• Updating job descriptions or sourcing criteria based on hiring manager feedback

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years of full-cycle recruiting experience
• Government contracting (GovCon) recruiting experience required
• Strong sourcing skills, including Boolean search and LinkedIn Recruiter proficiency
• Comfortable managing multiple open requisitions simultaneously in a fast-paced, still-forming process environment
• Excellent written communication skills, particularly for candidate outreach and hiring manager coordination
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience recruiting for defense or government contracting roles specifically for engineering or technical positions, in addition to program/business roles
• Familiarity with military/veteran talent pipelines and transition timelines
• Experience recruiting in a startup or fast-growth environment where process is still being built
• Comfort with modern AI/sourcing tools and an interest in improving recruiting workflows with them
• Based in or near Charlotte, NC

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary of $60,000-$70,000, plus commission
