Through PACE Georgia, we partner with participants and their families to provide personalized healthcare, social support, and community-based services that honor the unique needs and values of every individual we serve.

Summary

The PACE Recreational Therapist is a member of the PACE Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and is responsible for completing recreational therapy assessments for new PACE participants and reassessments for existing PACE participants as part of the PACE IDT care planning process.

The PACE Recreational Therapist is responsible for providing a comprehensive therapeutic recreation and activity program for PACE participants. Activities are provided primarily in the PACE Center on days of attendance but may also include group outings for participants in community locations.

Experience & Education

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from an accredited college with emphasis on senior populations. / Or, Minimum 2 years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating recreation services for the frail or elderly population within the past five (5) years.
  • Preferred Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
  • Required National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
  • Required: One year of experience working with a frail or elderly population.
  • Preferred experience working in Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
  • Must have not been convicted of criminal offenses involving Medicaid, Medicare, other health insurance or health care programs, or social services programs under title XX of the Act. And/or have not been excluded from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
  • Must have not been convicted of criminal offenses pertaining to physical, sexual, drug, or alcohol abuse.
  • (Preferred) BLS certified/ First Aid Certification. Must maintain upon completion.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, conflict management, problem solving, critical thinking and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with organizational agility, adaptability and flexibility with work priorities as well as ability to prioritize workload.
  • Superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with email and calendaring systems.
  • Up to 10% travel within the geographic region.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires moderate visual concentration for patient charting/documentation. This position carries a risk of exposure to infectious diseases and requires skill in standard safety precautions. The Recreational Therapist requires the mobility to ambulate or lift a patient with or without the assistance of devices in excess of 75 pounds using proper body mechanics.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: A full-time position works a 30-40 hour work week, rotating days, evenings, or weekends, with occasional requests to work additional days/hours as needed. The Recreational Therapist may be required to provide care in what has been determined by local authorities as a high-risk crime area and unsafe situations (potential or actual). The Recreational Therapist position may be required to perform patient visits utilizing their personal vehicle. Although each Recreational Therapist may be designated to a specific department/region in our service area, at times they may be required to serve patients outside of their department/specific region. This Recreational Therapist position requires extensive driving that may exceed 100 miles per week.
