Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Ferriday is seeking a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) to join the Clinical Services Department. This on-site role provides therapeutic activities supporting patients’ emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being under the Director of Clinical Social Services.

You will deliver assessments, treatment planning, and group and individual sessions, document outcomes, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to address psychosocial needs in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy and CTRS certification.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to engage diverse patient populations with compassion and creativity.
• Team-oriented with excellent communication.
• On-site at a behavioral hospital.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of recreational therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, and interventions.
• Plan, schedule, and lead activities to improve leisure skills, socialization, physical fitness, cognition, and creativity.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary clinical team to support psychosocial needs.
• Track patient participation, monitor progress, and document outcomes.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions with compliant notes.
• Participate in medication management meetings as needed.
• Observe and adjust plans to meet goals.
• This position is based on-site at a behavioral hospital.
