Job summary

Trinity Health, through St Francis LIFE Riverfront in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a RECREATION THERAPIST to plan, develop, and implement therapeutic recreational activities for participants, including those with Alzheimer's and related dementia.

Home visits may be required; local travel within New Castle County is expected. The role entails supervision of staff, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and driving quality improvement in the recreation department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy related field OR NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification.
• Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in therapeutic recreation related services with geriatric population.
• Valid Drivers License and use of personal vehicle for home care/community visit requirements.
• Minimum of one (1) year documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training onsite upon hire.
• Must manage conflict well, be customer focused and be able to adapt to ongoing change with regard to work priorities and be flexible with work priorities.

Position Purpose

Plan, develop, and implement therapeutic recreational activities for all participants, including those with Alzheimer's and related dementia. Provide direction and support to recreation assistants and other staff and ensure quality improvement within the recreation department.

Position Information

Home visits may be required at times based on the participant’s care plan and the need for recreational therapy assessments in the community.

Local travel in the New Castle County area required.

• Superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with email and calendaring systems.
• Up to 10% travel within the geographic region.
