Responsibilities

• Conducts assessment and sets recreation therapy goals to meet patient needs.
• Pre-certifies patient care and reviews ongoing care authorization.
• Evaluates patient progress and therapy effectiveness.
• Coordinates group activities and supports discharge planning.
• Educates patients and families about leisure and community resources.

Huachuca, Cochise County - a population of more than 131,000 people, and our surrounding communities. We're comfortably nestled in the San Pedro River Valley, 75 miles southeast of Tucson. Canyon Vista Medical Center was founded in 1963 as Western Baptist Osteopathic Hospital on what was then the eastern edge of Sierra Vista. Growth and advancing technology dictated building our new 177,000 square foot hospital at 5700 E Hwy 90 completed in 2015.

How You'll Contribute

• Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
• Pre-certifies patient care. Conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.

• Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
• Formulates a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the Interdisciplinary Assessments.
• Updates Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed.
• Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
• Assists with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.
• Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure life styles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
• BLS required
• Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire)
• Current Recreational Therapist license.
