Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital in Marysville, WA is seeking a Recreational Therapist to plan and execute engaging activity services aligned with treatment goals. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support patients’ mental health, well-being, and functional progress.

Responsibilities include observing patient needs, documenting changes, delivering psychosocial/leisure assessments, and guiding patients toward independent functioning through therapeutic activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, art, recreational therapy, or movement therapy; Master’s degree preferred.
• Certification or licensure by the state of Washington and/or national governing body in art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.

Responsibilities

• Observe and apply sound judgment to patients' physical and mental conditions/needs.
• Document and communicate changes in patient's appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient caseload within the facility.
• Model and teach patients appropriate social, coping, and stress management techniques.
• Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

Your Experience Matters

Education & Licensure:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in occupational therapy, art, music, recreational therapy, or movement therapy. Master’s degree preferred. Certification or licensure by the state of Washington and/or national governing body in the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.

Experience:

One (1) year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.

Additional Skill Requirements:

Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 30 days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation:

Full-time and part-time positions are available! The expected compensation range for this role is $28.00 - $40.00 hourly. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Recreational Therapist
