Chico State Enterprises on the Chico State Campus is seeking a Recreational Sports Program Assistant. The role assists day-to-day operations of the Wildcat Gaming Lobby, special events, and programming within Recreational Sports.

Responsibilities include staff supervision, inventory management, safety enforcement, and participant interaction. Requires evening availability and the ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and weeknights.

Qualifications

  • Evening availability required.
  • Ability to operate an electric cart safely on campus.
  • Maintain or obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and regularly inventory Wildcat Gaming Lobby equipment.
  • Oversee safety, enforce policies, and supervise staff.
  • Interact with participants and promote sportsmanship.
  • Provide weekend and nightly supervision of events as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling student staff and daily facility operations.

$17.60 - $20.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Recreational Sports program assistantisanexperience of a lifetime, right here in Chico! Chico State Recreational Sportsoffers exciting program opportunities for students to enrich their experience at Chico State. We are looking for individuals to join us asprogram assistants who willassistdepartment staff in theday-to-dayoperation of theWildcat Gaming Lobby,special events, and programming within Recreational Sports.

The position willbe responsible forworking a majority ofweeknights,as well as some weekends andweekdays. The incumbent must have the ability to work autonomously and effectively with college students,faculty, staff,alumni,and members of the community.

  • Manage and regularlyinventoryallWildcat Gaming Lobbyequipment.
  • Manage and intervene, when necessary, in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Enforce department and campus policies.
  • Promote sportsmanship and foster good character amongparticipants.
  • Activelymonitorevents and programs.
  • Interact with participants.
  • Conduct training forWildcat Gaming Lobby front desk attendants.
  • Contribute suggestions that would improve theWildcat Gaming Lobby andprograms.
  • Be able to envision foreseeable dangers and hazards that may affect participant safety.
  • Be a positive role model for fellow employees and participants.
  • Perform selected office work and other duties as necessary.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with all members of the Recreational Sports staff and community.
  • Supervise and evaluate front desk attendants.
  • Provide weekend and nightly supervision of events as needed.
  • Assistwith the scheduling of studentstaff.
  • Assistwithfacilitydaily operations.
  • Ensure staffhasaccess to the facility.
  • Make sure all necessary equipment is accessible.
  • Assiststaff with event setup.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must haveeveningavailability.
  • Must be able to operate an electric cart safely around campus and in surrounding areas as needed.
  • Maintain oracquireCPR/AED/First Aid certifications for adults, children, and infants. The employerwillassistemployees in obtaining certifications if new hires do not currently have validcertifications.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) isrequiredfor employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.
  • Candidate must be in possession ofvaliddriver's license and automobile liability insurance. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) isrequired. The candidate willbe requiredto update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.
