Job summary

YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is seeking a Recreational Gymnastics Instructor to lead and develop non-team gymnastics classes. You will plan age-appropriate sessions, teach gymnastic movements, and uphold a safe environment for all participants.

A positive, cheerful attitude with staff and participants is essential, and you may participate in fundraising activities for the YMCA. Certification in gymnastics or 1–2 years of teaching experience is preferred, with CPR/First Aid required within 30

POSITION SUMMARY:The Recreational Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for the daily operation of the Gymnastics program. Daily functions include facilitation of non-team gymnastics classes.In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for planning and facilitating age appropriate group gymnastics classesTeaches specific gymnastic movements to class participantsMaintains safe work environment and ensures the safety of all participantsAttends required department and individual trainingsAssist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer serviceAssist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCAMaintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participantsWillingly perform other duties as assignedThis organization has zero tolerance for abuse and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. Any mistreatment or abuse by an employee or volunteer will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or volunteer service and cooperation with law enforcement. An employee or volunteer’s failure to cooperate with an investigation will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the organization.QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:Gymnastics certification or one to two years of gymnastics teaching preferred.Must be willing to obtain gymnastics certification within timeframe indicated by manager and maintain certificate during course of employment.Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices including gymnastic techniques.Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants.CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
