Job summary

Sapphire Center for Rehabilitation of Central Queens in New York is seeking an enthusiastic entry-level Floating Recreational Aide to lead residents in scheduled activities such as singing, arts, crafts, painting, and light movement.

You will assist with planning activities based on residents' interests, welcome visitors, help with calendars, and support video calls. This role emphasizes compassion, safety, and creating engaging experiences for individuals in a caring nursing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Demonstrated skills in music, arts & crafts, movement/exercise, painting, or ceramics.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead residents in scheduled recreational activities including singing, dancing, arts & crafts and painting.
• Assist in planning and promoting recreation based on individual needs and interests; encourage participation.
• Visit bed-bound residents and provide appropriate recreation services.
• Assist with monthly newsletter and recreation calendar.
• Help with volunteer programs, admissions assessments, and community interaction programs.
• Support transportation to and from activities and enable video calls (FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, Facebook).

Sapphire Center for Rehabilitation of Central Queens, a skilled nursing facility located in Queens County, New York, has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and energetic entry level floating Recreational Aide. This job entails leading residents in scheduled recreational activities, which include and are not limited to singing, dancing, arts & crafts and painting.

• Assisting in planning and promoting recreation based on individualized needs and interests and encouraging participation and engagement;
• Visiting bed-bound residents and non-participants and providing appropriate recreation services for them;
• Assisting with monthly newsletter and recreation calendar;
• Assisting with volunteer program, admission assessments, and community interaction programs;
• Ensuring that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes each individual’s needs and rights;
• Assisting in the transportation of residents to and from activities;
• Assisting residents’ in scheduling and partaking in FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, and Facebook video calls;

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent;
• Demonstrated skills in one of the following areas: music (vocal or instrumental), arts & crafts, movement/exercise, painting or ceramics.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds and be on your feet for long durations
