Job description

The Creative and Expressive Arts Therapies (CEAT) department at Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) is looking for a Recreation Therapist to join the team. CEAT department includes Art, Dance/Movement, Music, Recreation, and Yoga therapies. Including this position, we are a team of 8 therapists serving all of the inpatient units in the hospital. The CEAT department was first formed in the early 1980s and has played an important role in patient care throughout its tenure. As a team we provide on-unit interventions as well as some off-unit or multi-unit initiatives.

Recreation Therapist levels I,II and III candidates will be considered for this role. The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Recreation Therapist I is $20.52 ; Recreation Therapist II is $21.86; Therapist III is $23.61) for these positions may vary depending on education level and years of experience.

Responsibilities:

Therapy and Documentation

  • Conduct therapy sessions using Recreation Therapy principles.
  • Document assessments, treatment progress, and training activities.

Training, Supervision, and Meetings

  • Facilitate training/orientation activities.
  • Supervise students with senior staff support.
  • Attend department and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Attend 1-3 in-services/trainings yearly.

Quality, Safety, and Certification

  • Follow hospital quality and safety guidelines.
  • Manage supplies responsibly and safely.
  • Maintain professional certification/licensure.
  • Communicate with department and patient units.

Performance

  • Complete assigned work timely and productively.
  • Adhere to system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
