Job description

The Recreation Support Professional provides support to program participants in a recreational setting by supervising activities, assisting with community navigation, and helping develop practical skills such as money management and following directions. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Supervision, Training, and Treatment of Persons with Disabilities

• Responsible for direct supervision, training, and guidance of assigned program participants.
  • Supervision includes being alert and attentive to the support needs of the program participants and their surroundings at all times.
  • Must be able to react to medical and safety needs according to individual protocols, guidelines, plans, and agency correspondence.
• Applies ethical and best practices relating to program participant rights and Agency policy regarding abuse prevention and liability issues in daily practices.
• Implements agency safety program, practices, and procedures.
• Utilizes agency protocols in urgent and emergencies (medical, behavioral, environmental).
• Follows program recommendations provided by IDT professionals (psychological, OT, speech, and physical therapy) as prescribed.
• Uses common sense and sound decision-making in providing services to individuals with disabilities.
• Ensures the health and safety of program participants utilizing best practices.
• Communicates with co-workers, Supervisor, and Director regularly. Follows chain of command in daily procedures/processes/events.
• Provide PSL and non-PSL transportation services to participants to and from community outings.
• Provides generalized group instruction to program participants in various areas, i.e., hygiene, safety, social skills, and workplace behaviors.
• Plans and carries out community experiences to address program participants' training needs, personal preferences, and social integration.
• Serve as a role model for program participants.

B. Recordkeeping

• Records data to assist in measuring baseline skill levels for assessment reports and initial testing. Assists in the development of program participant training methodologies and strategies.
• Responsible for the collection and maintenance of all prescribed documentation daily for all assigned program participants, including, but not limited to, the following: attendance recording, behavioral data, anecdotal reports, incident and accident reports, seizure reports, and general event reports.

C. Other Responsibilities.

• Maintains all required training and certifications.
• Responsible for reading and becoming familiar with the Staff Personnel Handbook and all other related Agency Policies and Procedures.
• Carries out Quality Assurance and Outcome Measurement
• Maintains clean driving record throughout employment.
