Job summary

Evergreen Park & Recreation District seeks a Recreation Supervisor – Aquatics to oversee operations for the new facility opening mid-2027. You will lead staffing, training, safety, and program development to deliver engaging aquatic experiences.

Responsibilities include daily scheduling, budget management, water quality oversight, and coordinating with multiple departments. You must build a strong team and ensure exceptional guest experiences across lessons, fitness, and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Lead or supervisory aquatics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational preparations for opening new aquatics facility, including staffing, training, and procedures.
  • Create, launch, and evaluate aquatics programs, classes, and events reflecting community needs.
  • Manage daily operations, staffing, and supervisor-on-duty duties.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate aquatics staff; coordinate with Guest Experience Manager and HR.
  • Oversee water quality, safety equipment, inspections, and emergency plans.
  • Prepare and manage the aquatics budget; monitor revenue and expenses.
  • Oversee registration, POS, and reporting in ActiveNet or similar systems.

POSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the Guest Experience Manager, this position oversees aquatics staff, daily operations, programming, safety, and budget management. The supervisor combines creative program planning with hands-on leadership to deliver safe, welcoming facilities and consistent service across EPRD’s aquatics operations.With an expanded aquatics facility under construction and expected to open mid-year 2027, the Recreation Supervisor – Aquatics will lead the development of fun, engaging programs and prepare a team to bring the new facility to life. From swimming lessons and aquatic fitness to family activities and special events, this role turns community interests into opportunities to learn, play, and connect in the water.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESNew aquatics addition: Lead operational preparations for opening, including staffing, training, equipment, schedules, and procedures in coordination with the Guest Experience Manager and other departments.Program oversight and development: Create, launch, and evaluate new & Existing aquatics programs, classes, and special events that reflect community interests, and engage participants of different ages and abilities.Daily operations: Manage facility schedules, staffing coverage, and program delivery. Provide lifeguard or instructor coverage and serve as supervisor-on-duty as assigned.Staff leadership: Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate aquatics staff. Build a cooperative team through clear expectations, regular coaching, and consistent accountability; address performance concerns in coordination with the Guest Experience Manager and HR.Scheduling and training: Prepare staff schedules, approve time entries, maintain required certifications, and coordinate staff meetings, in-service training, and emergency drills.Safety and facility readiness: Oversee water quality testing, facility inspections, safety equipment, and Emergency Action Plans. Ensure applicable requirements are met, review incidents, and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and corrective actions.Budget management: Prepare and manage the aquatics budget with the Guest Experience Manager. Monitor revenue and expenses, oversee purchasing and supplies, and recommend fees and operational improvements.Systems and records: Oversee ActiveNet program setup, registration, point-of-sale processes, and reporting. Must obtain and maintain required certifications within District-established timelines.Working knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, and recordkeeping.Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with additional hours, on-call duties, or supervisor-on-duty assignments as needed.Ability to work in aquatic environments with exposure to chlorinated water and pool chemicals, humidity, temperature variations, noise, wet surfaces, and crowds.Successful completion of required background checks and pre-employment screenings.
