Job summary

Community Care is seeking a Recreation Specialist at our Waukesha location to plan and deliver therapeutic recreational activities for older adults and adults with disabilities, under guidance of the site manager. You will support staff and contribute to person-centered care in a busy community-based program.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Recreational Therapy or related field (or an Associate in Occupational Therapy) and 1+ year of relevant caregiving or internship experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Recreational Therapy or related field or Associate in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Minimum 1 year of personal, clinical/internship, or employment experience with frail adults or elderly population.
  • 1–2 years developing and implementing programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities, frail elders or physically disabled; dementia programming experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate therapeutic recreational activities.
  • Provide direction and support to Recreation Assistants and other staff as appropriate.

Job Description

Community Care is hiring an Recreation Specialist to join our team. This position is a Full-Time position at our Waukesha location.

Recreation Specialist Job Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the designated site specific Manager or Supervisor and as a member of the Community Care inter-disciplinary team they are responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate, therapeutic recreational activities for all members including those with cognitive, developmental and physical disabilities. Provides direction and support to Recreation Assistants and other staff members as appropriate.

Recreation Specialist Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors in Recreational Therapy or other related field or Associates in Occupational Therapy

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of personal, Clinical/internship and/or employment experience providing care or services for a frail or elderly population required.

1-2 years developing and implementing programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities, frail elders, or physically disabled. Dementia programming experience preferred.

Recreation Specialist Schedule

Between 8:00 AM - 4:30PM
