Job description

Summary: Responsible for the daily operations and customer service for recreation services and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting relationships, work assignments, and schedules may change to meet city needs. Attendance, positive public interaction, and teamwork are essential. Other duties may be assigned.

Program and Event Coordination:
  • Greet customers and handle calls and emails.
  • Sell memberships and daily admissions.
  • Register participants for programs and events.
  • Reserve rentable spaces.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping, filing, and clerical tasks.
  • Open and close the facility per shifts.
  • Assist with staff training and development.
  • Supervise part-time recreation workers at the reception.
  • Implement emergency action plans when needed.
  • Keep the reception area tidy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment around the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Community Engagement and Promotion:
  • Promote cooperation among city recreation and non-recreation staff.
Customer Service and Communication:
  • Provide excellent service and communication to members and the public.
  • Distribute marketing materials.
Evaluation and Improvement:
  • Assess the effectiveness of programs, facilities, and services.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the recreation budget and expenditures.
Qualifications:

Must perform all duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field, with at least one year supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively in various formats.
  • Basic math skills, including budgeting.
  • Problem-solving and instruction interpretation skills.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license, CPR and First Aid certification, background check clearance.

Physical Demands: Regular use of hands, standing, walking, sitting, occasional climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and visual acuity required.

Work Environment: Exposure to outdoor weather, mechanical parts, chemicals, and noise. Reasonable accommodations available.
