Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Recreation Coordinator at Pamlico Correctional Institution to lead the overall recreational program for offenders and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

Key duties include planning annual recreation activities, coordinating with staff and management, and engaging community volunteers to enrich programs while accommodating disabilities and housing restrictions.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of Prisons operations through at least 2 years' work experience in a correctional facility.
• Documented knowledge of services available from the community and other public and private programs through work experience or personal volunteer experience.
• Documented work experience developing or supporting activities or events for a large group of individuals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the recreational program to promote the physical, mental, emotional and social well‑being of the population.
• Coordinate with staff and management for program planning and evaluation.
• Oversee equipment inventory, maintenance and distribution for recreational areas.
• Coordinate with community agencies to enrich programs and work with community volunteers.
• Oversee staff and offenders during recreational programs while ensuring access to programs within assigned restrictions.
