City of North Little Rock's North Little Rock Community Center is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support daily operations, assist with programs, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for participants.
Duties include check-in, fee collection, equipment issuance, clerical tasks, cleaning, setup of tables and chairs, and assisting with games and special events; some duties may require Saturday work. Applicants should have a high school diploma and be at least 18.
Assists the Center Director, Assistant Center Director, and Facility Leaders with recreation activities by performing the following duties. Include the following. The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
checks participants in; collects fees and issue receipts; issues recreational equipment to participants; takes information for new memberships and prepares ID cards.
answers telephone and provides information and/or answers questions; maintains name and address file on all center participants; keeps daily log of attendance; assists with maintenance of center bulletin board.
dusts, mops, sweeps, vacuums, cleans windows, etc.; changes light bulbs in gym ceiling and other areas; maintains grounds by picking up trash and litter, mowing, and raking leaves; assists Center Director with pool maintenance and cleaning as needed.
sets up and takes down 6' and 8' folding tables and chairs; lifts and moves weights, gymnastic equipment, and other furnishings.
instructs participants in rules and objectives of various games and sports; monitors and helps with special events and activities; recreational activities to include sports, games, arts and crafts, education, and healthy living. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. For both one-of a kind and repetitive tasks the supervisor makes specific assignments that are accompanied by clear, detailed, and specific instructions. The worker consults with the supervisor as needed on all matters not specifically covered in the original instructions or guidelines. The supervisor reviews most work.
