Job summary

State of Missouri, Fulton State Hospital, is seeking full-time Recreation or Music Therapists to join the Nixon Forensic Center team in Fulton, MO. The program focuses on recovery-based treatment for clients with mental illnesses who have committed offenses, emphasizing trauma-informed care and self-regulation skills.

Responsibilities include leading groups, case management, and documenting assessments within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• A degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy or closely related field is required.
• CTR S or Music Therapist certification welcomed but not required.
• Must be at least 20 years old for entry high security setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess basic skill functioning related to services provided by Rehabilitation Services Department.
• Plan and implement a wide range of treatment groups to address social, vocational, emotional, cognitive and physical needs.
• Develop and maintain individual treatment plans and related documentation, provide individual therapy, goal setting, family contact and client advocacy.
• Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and weekly program meetings.
• Ensure competency in implementing psychosocial program principles and departmental documentation expectations.

Salary Range

$42,933.60-$49,362.00, based on experience/qualifications

The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health, Fulton State Hospital, is seeking full time Recreation or Music Therapists to work in the Nixon Forensic Center in Fulton, MO. The hospital is certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), has been accredited by The Joint Commissions (TJC) since 1984, and is known for evidence-based treatment and innovative practices.

The Recreation or Music Therapist plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team working with clients who have mental illnesses and have committed crimes. In addition, many clients have trauma histories of their own and corresponding mental illnesses that increase the likelihood of reoffending. Treatment is focused on learning self-regulation and self-management skills within a respectful, recovery based treatment program. Responsibilities include: Planning and conducting a variety of groups, case management, attending treatment team meeting, completing required documentation and assessments. A degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy or a closely related field is required. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery based environment.
